Project Assessment – Sleek Steel Profiles
This full-house renovation project was designed to meet the exacting standards of architects and construction professionals working on high-quality restoration, extension and new-build homes. The brief required a seamless integration of design consistency, thermal performance and architectural detailing across all glazing elements.
At ground floor level, bespoke internal steel doors were installed, featuring a custom glazing bar design that reflects traditional steel proportions while delivering a clean, contemporary finish. These were carefully matched with thermally broken exterior steel doors, ensuring visual continuity throughout the property while achieving a very low U-value suitable for modern building regulations and energy-efficient homes.
A key technical challenge was the design and manufacture of aluminium sliding doors that replicate the appearance of traditional steel framing. Using slimline profiles, bespoke glazing bars and a rare four-panel sliding configuration, these doors provide the elegance of steel with the practical benefits of aluminium. This solution is also particularly well suited to Cotswold properties where large openings are required without compromising architectural character.
This project demanded a unified design language that successfully connects internal steel doors, thermally broken external steel doors and steel-look aluminium sliding doors. The result is a cohesive and refined glazing scheme that enhances both performance and aesthetics, making it ideal for period restorations, contemporary extensions and high-end new-build developments across the Cotswolds.
